20-07 Dearth of hockey playground in Pune

Ikram Khan, secretary of Maharashtra Hockry Association was conferred Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Sports Award for year 2010 at the hands of Dr. Prakash Ambedkar, president of Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh on Sunday.
“Pune has a long tradition of Hockey but the city does not have fair number of playgrounds for the game. This is a deplorable situation. I will try my best to change the situation and we should try all together without looking at government for the same,” said Dr. Praksah aka Balasaheb Ambedkar.
Dr. Ambedkar was in Pune yesterday for the felicitation ceremony of Ikram Khan, secretary of Maharashtra Hockry Association. Khan was conferred Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Sports Award for year 2010 at the hands of Ambedkar. Shawl, momento and Rs 11 thousand constitute the award.
Lalitkumar Jain of Kumar Builders; Ramesh Gaikwad, president of All India Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Hockey Tournament Committee; Sharad Roch, secretary of the committee; international player Ramesh Pillai, Akram Madari were present on the occasion.
Khan said, “We are trying to give boost to as many as players as possible. An international quality stadium in Pune is my dream and I am striving to fulfill that dream.”
