After a cricket stadium, Mohali is set to get an international hockey stadium. The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) will build an international-standard hockey ground with a synthetic turf on over 20 acres of land earmarked for a sports complex opposite the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) international cricket stadium in Sector 63 here.

To be built at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore, the work on the project will begin soon, said GMADA Chief Administrator (CA) Vivek Partap Singh. With a VIP pavilion and a seating capacity for 4,000, the stadium will go a long way in helping Punjab regain the lost glory in international arena, feels Director, Sports, Punjab, Pargat Singh.

He said the earlier designed Rs 100-crore project, in the Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) mode, to develop Mohali sports complex mandated to Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB), did not work out.
